Juices are a fun way to enjoy fruits and vegetables. Despite losing some fiber, squeezed fruits and vegetables still contain most of the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients from the original.

The juice is often considered a good drink for health. That’s why many people take the time to enjoy a glass every day. Some even don’t like to eat fruits and vegetables; they prefer to consume them in the form of juice.

But do you know not all fruit or vegetable juices are right for you to consume? Especially the juice drinks that you buy carelessly on the roadside or mall. Such beverages can have high sugar levels.

Health experts recommend avoiding the following juices so that our bodies stay healthy.

1. Cocktail Juice

Avoid cocktail juice and fruit-flavored drinks such as juice. Such drinks only have a small amount of real fruit juice and are full of other ingredients such as water, sweeteners, and high amounts of high fructose corn syrup. This content can trigger weight gain, increase cholesterol levels, raise blood pressure, and increase the risk of cancer, diabetes, and digestive disorders.

2. Juices Packaging

Juices packaging that we can find on supermarkets or in any market is rich in added sugar content. The added sugar aims to disguise the taste of the fruit that tends to be acidic. Of course, this can make us consume too much sugar. Then it will adversely affect the body, such as increasing the risk of developing diabetes, obesity, and other health problems.

Juices packaging is rich in sugar and calories but low in fiber, which should help us fill up more quickly. Based on research by Julie Flood-Obbagy and Barbara Rolls, which resulted in the fact that after consuming apple juice, we feel hungry and want to consume more calories in foods, including unhealthy snacks.

Juices packaging also causes children to consume sweet drinks, including soda, at a young age. In a study, mentioning that routine drinking bottled fruit juice can increase body weight, trigger stunting in children, cavities, to worsen blood pressure and cholesterol.

3. Vegetable Juices: Cabbage, Broccoli, and Raw Kale

Do not carelessly make juices from vegetables such as cabbage, kale, or broccoli. Especially if the plants are still in raw condition. The reason is because of the content in these fresh vegetables that can interfere with thyroid function in the body.

Also, these vegetables can trigger excessive gas production in the stomach. Of course, it will make us exposed to flatulence problems.

In conclusion, indeed, drinking juice is better than other drinks. But not all types of fruit or vegetables are suitable for making juice. Some fruits and vegetables are better for you to consume directly.

It is good to know unhealthy juices for consumption so that we are more careful about selecting fruits and vegetables before making juices to get drinks from fresh fruit or vegetables that are good for our bodies.
